Louise Mudge

Louise Mudge is a specialist dietitian at Adelaide Gastrointestinal Specialists and Gastroenterology SA. She is an Accredited Practising Dietitian, completing a Masters in Nutrition & Dietetics at Flinders University of South Australia in 1998. Louise has more than 25 years of clinical experience both in private practice and her previous role as Senior Dietitian & Team Leader, Digestive Diseases, Royal Adelaide Hospital. This involved coordinating nutrition and dietetic services to the Gastroenterology, Professorial Oesophago-Gastric Surgery, Pancreatic & Hepatobiliary Surgery & Colorectal Surgery teams. She specialises in the dietary management of patients with reflux, achalasia and motility disorders, gastric and oesophageal cancer. She has expertise in preparing patients for upper gastrointestinal surgery. During 2010-2015 she was seconded to the University of Adelaide Discipline of Surgery as the Clinical Trial Coordinator for a national multicentre RCT evaluating immunonutrition use in patients undergoing oesophageal cancer resection. She was recently involved in a study evaluating the optimal duration of a low-calorie diet, prior to laparoscopic anti-reflux surgery, to achieve maximal liver volume reduction, and to assess the accuracy of body composition analysis vs. bedside ultrasound and MRI in the measurement of liver volume.
